Celebrating Girls For A Change: Bank of America Neighborhood Builders Award & Premier of Daughters on Netflix

We are thrilled to celebrate Girls For A Change (GFAC)  for their remarkable achievement of securing the prestigious Neighborhood Builders Award from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. This award is an incredible acknowledgment of GFAC's persistence, impact, and relentless commitment to uplifting Richmond's communities. Bank of America recognized GFAC for its transformative programs, empowering Black girls to become leaders across the Greater Richmond Metro Area.

Founded in 2000, Girls For A Change continues to pave the way for positive, community-driven change, and we couldn't be more proud to celebrate this milestone alongside them!

Daughters Documentary Premieres on Netflix

In addition to their award, GFAC recently premiered Daughters, a moving documentary co-directed by GFAC CEO Angela Patton and filmmaker Natalie Rae. Now available on Netflix, Daughters shares the powerful and emotional journeys of four young girls preparing for a special "Daddy-Daughter Dance" with their incarcerated fathers. This dance, part of a unique fatherhood program in a Washington, D.C. jail, offers a rare opportunity for these daughters to connect with their fathers—moments many will only experience once during sentences that stretch up to 20 years.

Daughters shines a light on the often-overlooked experiences of children of incarcerated parents while also challenging us to rethink the impact of incarceration on families and communities. GFAC, through this film, is challenging perceptions of the impact of incarceration on families and communities while continuing to support Black girls and girls of color from their youth into young adulthood.

Richmond's Special Screening of Daughters at the Altria Theater

We were honored to support the Richmond screening of Daughters at the Altria Theater, where powerful voices within the community came together to celebrate the film's impact. Girls For A Change created a powerful space for dialogue, inspiration, and change-making.
